We have all been programmed from birth in the expectations of the dominant American culture by our parents, schools, churches, mass media, corporate entities and political systems. We are constantly bombarded with messages as to the “proper” way to be and where we fit into the hierarchy of the herd.
Many of us have never fit into the herd no matter how hard we’ve tried — but is it actually necessary?
Michelle believes that one of the best ways to find your authentic, true self is to be aware of and challenge the programming we have received and the messages that have overwritten who we actually are.
Subjects to be discussed will include things like racist, cultural, neurotype & and gender stereotyping; fads, fashions & media portrayal of the overculture’s demands being the only acceptable way to be; early childhood limitations placed on us by our assigned gender at birth; morality, ethics & self determination as opposed to “obedience”; community culture vs. corporate culture, and many more.
This is a free discussion group where we can examine and feel supported around becoming the person that we are meant to be and create community and connection with those who are doing the same kind of work we are. Everyone is welcome, this a safe and sacred space where we welcome all who welcome all (however, we quite are intolerant of the intolerant).
The discussion will be free form & will evolve naturally each meeting, moderated by Michelle. End time is flexible depending on how the discussions go.
Pease bring a chair if you have one, our seating is limited.
